HTTP compression speeds up file delivery across the Internet, keeps your users happy with faster page loads, and dramatically reduces bandwidth costs. Compression was non_existent on IIS 4 and broken on IIS 5, but Windows Server 2003 with Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 now offers great out_of_the_box compression embedded into the core Web server code itself. ZipEnable allows you to easily get the absolute most out of IIS 6 built_in compression. While Port80 Software's httpZip is the best ISAPI compression solution for Windows Web servers, we highly recommend that you use the internal compression engine in IIS 6.0 _ it's lightning fast, incurs minimal resource penalties, and you already bought it when you bought the OS.
The one major drawback to IIS 6.0 native compression is the absence of configuration options via the Web server management interface. IIS 6.0 does not provide a GUI to the majority of controls. Necessities like site level compression, compression schemes, and all advanced settings are only accessible via the IIS metabase. With ZipEnable, you now have more than an "ON/OFF" choice and can granularly manage IIS 6.0 native compression at the global, site, directory, and file levels __ and all without writing a single line of code or editing the IIS metabase. You can easily configure compression on all static and dynamic files, including both those that are compressed by default (HTML and ASP) and those that are not (JavaScript, CSS, Cold Fusion, PHP, etc.).
ZipEnable also provides real_time browser compatibility checking to make sure that you only send compressed content to browsers that can handle decompression, and CPU roll_off to keep compression CPU cycles within your comfort zone. ZipEnable is available as a free 30_day trial, and, like all Port80 Software products, ZipEnable includes free technical support. IIS 6 compression works __ you just need ZipEnable to manage it safely and efficiently!

2. httpZip

| The httpZip Microsoft IIS Web server software accelerates sites, speeds up Web_based apps, and reduces bandwidth costs dramatically. Powerful HTTP compression shrinks the size of common Web files safely and automatically provides browser compatibility. Additional dynamic compression caching and HTML/CSS code optimization further enhances Web server speed, while a granular tuning GUI and Web_based reporting make compression management easy.

3. ServerMask

| ServerMask for IIS modifies your Web server's "fingerprint" by removing unnecessary HTTP response data, modifying cookie values, removing the need to serve file extensions, and adjusting other response information to obscure the identity of your server. Successful anti-reconnaissance confuses hackers and makes it likely they will try the wrong exploits first -- so they can be easily snared by your current firewall and intrusion detection systems.

4. CacheRight

|
| CacheRight for Microsoft IIS 4/5/6 allows Web developers to create granular cache control policies without MMC access. By eliminating unnecessary validation requests and ensuring proper caching of images and other content by both browser and proxy caches, CacheRight will speed up pages, reduce network chatter, and free up servers to handle more requests. A single configuration file in the home directory allows control of caching by mime and path.

| Unscrupulous site owners may link to your content directly and literally steal your bandwidth. This theft is commonly called leeching, hotlinking, inline linking, or bandwidth theft, and such direct linking to your valuable image, video, binary files or other important site content is typically done without your knowledge. Now, with LinkDeny, you can cost effectively fight back and control access to your Web site or Web-based application content.
